- Netflix may be accessed on your television in a variety of ways.
- If you have a smart TV, you can use the on-screen apps to log into Netflix.
- If you don’t have a smart TV, you can use a Roku, a video game console, or a cable to link your laptop or mobile device to the TV.
With 139 million global users consuming around 140 million hours of content each day, Netflix is without a doubt the most popular video streaming service.
You can surely do so on your smartphone or tablet, as the Netflix apps for iOS and Android provide convenient viewing options.
But what if you’d rather watch Netflix on a larger screen, such as your living room television? There are five popular methods for doing so.
On a smart TV, you can watch Netflix.
Many large flat screen televisions now come with a built-in media player that allows you to connect to popular video services such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and others via on-screen apps.
If you have a smart TV, all you have to do is sign up for Netflix and log in using the Netflix app.
Use a streaming media player like Roku to watch Netflix.
You don’t need a smart TV because you can use a media streaming device to turn any television with an HDMI port into a smart TV.
A variety of video streamers are available, including the Roku line of products, Amazon’s Fire TV, and Nvidia Shield TV.
Use a game console like the PS4 to watch Netflix.
Game consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have their own set of streaming video apps, which means you can watch Netflix on your gaming console as well.
When you’re done playing games, you can connect into Netflix using the on-screen interface, which works similarly to a Roku or comparable streaming device.
Netflix may be viewed by “casting” it from your phone to a television.
If you have Netflix on your phone, you may want to stream the video to your television. Fortunately, there are devices that make this simple. Google Chromecast is a basic media player that connects to your television and allows you to transfer anything from your phone to your TV wirelessly.
This is known as “casting” on Chromecast, and it allows you to view Netflix in full quality on your TV. If you have an Apple TV, you can do the same thing. You may use Bluetooth to link your phone to your television and watch Netflix videos wirelessly.
Connect a laptop or mobile device to your TV to watch Netflix.
Finally, you may connect your computer or mobile device to a television using the appropriate cable to project video onto a larger screen. The key, of course, is to use the proper cable. In most circumstances, you’ll want to use an HDMI connection to connect your computer to the TV, so be sure your laptop has an HDMI output that you can connect to your TV’s HDMI input.
You might be able to use an old DVI cable instead if you have an older laptop (and television). A Lightning Digital AV Adapter is required to connect your iPhone or iPad to the television. Check out our post “How to link your iPhone to a TV in two different methods” for more information.
