Netflix is well-known for its intriguing titles and high-quality streaming of TV series. Netflix has some options that allow you to stream in 4K, which will provide you the finest viewing experience on your larger 4K TVs. Many people are unaware, however, that they can watch 4K movies and TV episodes on Netflix.
Let’s look at how to stream Netflix UHD or 4K video.
How to Enable Netflix 4K
In order to access 4K Ultra HD material on Netflix, you’ll need a fast internet connection and a 4K-capable device. To stream 4K video, Netflix says the following requirements must be met.
1. Ultra HD streaming requires a 60Hz TV or computer monitor.
2. A steady internet connection of at least 25 Mbps is required.
3. Netflix has a plan that includes Ultra HD.
Check to see if your Netflix subscription includes 4K Ultra HD.
Netflix has a variety of subscription levels, but not all of them allow 4K Ultra HD streaming. If you want to watch movies or TV series in 4K resolution, you’ll need to sign up for Netflix’s Premium streaming subscription. Let’s have a look at how to accomplish this.
Open any browser on your computer or smartphone and log in to your Netflix account.
Then, from the drop-down list on the screen, select Account from the Profile symbol in the top right corner of the Netflix Home page.
Look for the section Plan details on the Account page to see your plan name. If any plan other than Premium is displayed, click Change Plan.
On your screen, a new page titled Change Streaming Plan will appear. There, select the Premium plan, which costs $17.99/£13.99 a month.
Then, to finalize the payment and upgrade the plan to Premium, which supports Ultra HD streaming material, follow the on-screen instructions.
Configure Netflix’s Streaming Quality Settings
To save data, some Netflix customers opt to watch content in a low-quality resolution. If you wish to watch 4K content, though, make sure your data usage is set to Auto or High.
As described in the last section, go to your account page. Then go to the Profile & Parental Controls section and select your Profile.
Look for the field Playback settings by clicking on your Profile name. Then, on the right, click the Change button.
Go to the section Data use per screen in the Playback options. Make sure the value is set to Auto or High, then save the changes by clicking the Save button. Netflix now has 4K Ultra HD movies and TV shows available.
On a PC, you can watch Netflix in 4K.
If you wish to watch 4K movies or TV shows on Netflix on your computer, Windows 10 or 11 is required. If you’re a Mac user, you’ll need macOS 11.0 or later.
If you use Chrome as your primary browser, you won’t be able to watch Netflix in 4K because neither Chrome nor Firefox supports Ultra HD. If you want to watch movies or TV series in 4K on a computer, you’ll need to log in to Netflix with Microsoft Edge. Alternatively, you can go to the Microsoft Store and download and install the Netflix Desktop app. Because Mac users do
not have access to the Netflix app, you can watch Netflix in 4K using the most recent version of Safari.
Netflix has provided some instructions regarding the hardware on your computer on its official website. In order to play Ultra HD content on your computer, you’ll also need a 60Hz display.
Do you have a PC that meets all of the aforementioned requirements and a Netflix Premium subscription? After that, you can begin enjoying 4K movies and TV shows.
On TV, watch Netflix in 4K.
Do you have a 4K Ultra HD smart TV from Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, or another manufacturer? If you answered yes, you may download the Netflix app to your smart TV and begin streaming Ultra HD movies and TV episodes.
You don’t need to modify any settings on your Netflix app on your TV to watch Ultra HD 4K video on Netflix. Simply upgrade your Netflix subscription to Premium and configure the streaming quality settings on your Netflix account as described above. If you’re new to 4K, go to Netflix’s website and look for a list of TV providers that can give you a better experience with its content. Every year, Netflix refreshes this list.
On a smartphone, watch Netflix in 4K.
Though you won’t get the same experience as watching on a larger screen like a TV or computer, you can still watch Ultra HD movies and TV episodes on your smartphone using the Netflix app.
To watch 4K material on Netflix, you must adjust several settings on the Netflix mobile app in addition to configuring the Playback options on your Netflix account.
1. Select your profile symbol in the Who’s Watching? screen of the Netflix app on your Android/iPhone.
2. Tap the profile icon in the top right corner of the Netflix app’s home screen.
3. Tap App Settings from the list of options that appears.
4. Tap the field Video Quality in the App Settings page.

6. You can now watch Ultra HD movies and TV shows on Netflix if you have a premium subscription.
Netflix has Ultra HD movies.
You’re now ready to enjoy Netflix 4K Ultra HD content. Netflix does not, however, stream all of its programmings in Ultra HD. Check the description of the movie or TV show to see if it is available in 4K.
If you hover your mouse over any title on the homepage when exploring titles, you will see a brief synopsis of the film or television show. The HD/UHD logo will also be seen there.
This process of going through the titles one by one, however, is time consuming. You can avoid this by using Netflix’s Search function. After signing into your Netflix account, go to the homepage’s Search icon and type “4K” or “Ultra HD” into the search field.
You’ll now see a list of all the 4K Ultra HD movies and TV series available on Netflix. Select your preferred option from the list and begin watching.
