According to the latest data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Airtel is one of India’s top telecom carriers, with the second greatest market share of wireless subscribers (TRAI). Airtel added 5.8 million new wireless users as of January 31, 2021, the most among India’s main telecom companies, including Reliance Jio, Vodafone, and BSNL. Airtel provides a variety of services to its prepaid and postpaid customers, one of which is caller tunes, or Hello Tunes as Airtel refers to it. Hello Tunes, like caller tunes, allows your callers to hear any music you select instead of a ringing tone until you answer their call.
To set a Hello Tune, Airtel customers will need to use the Wynk Music app. It’s worth noting that prepaid customers on an Unlimited plan will be allowed to set a Hello Tune for free. Other prepaid subscribers who only want the Hello Tune service will have to pay Rs. 19 per month. In order to help you create a Hello Tune for your Airtel number, we’ve put together step-by-step instructions.
For Airtel prepaid and postpaid subscribers, how to activate Hello Tune/caller tune
- From the Google Play Store or the App Store, get the free Wynk Music app.
- Enter your Airtel phone number and the OTP to register.
- Tap the Airtel Hellotunes icon in the top right corner of the home screen.
- You can either explore or search for music you like here.
- Select Activate for Free after tapping on the song.
It’s now time to set your Airtel Hello Tune. The chosen song will be active for 30 days from the date of activation, and Unlimited plan subscribers will be able to renew it for free. You can also change the music at any time.
Airtel Hello Tunes cannot be set via a USSD code or a helpline number, making the process a little more difficult for non-smart 4G phone customers, such as feature phone users. They’ll need to move their SIM card to a smartphone, set a Hello Tune with the Wynk Music app, and then return the SIM to the non-smart phone. Hello Tunes is available on phones with 4G connectivity and above.
To turn off Hello Tunes on your Airtel phone, go to the Wynk Music app’s hamburger menu on the top left > Manage Hellotunes > three dot menu adjacent to the current Hello tune > Turn off Hello Tunes.
