Form 26AS, also known as an Annual Statement, is a consolidated record of all tax-related information linked with a PAN, such as TDS, TCS, and refunds (Permanent Account Number). Section 203AA, Rule 31AB of the Income Tax Act of 1961 governs this form and its usage by tax authorities and taxpayers.
How to Download TRACES Form 26AS
Form 26AS can be downloaded from the TRACES website or obtained through authorized banks’ net banking services.
Step 1 of 8: Download Form 26AS from the IRS e-Filing website.
Step 2 of 8: As User ID, password, and captcha code, enter your PAN number. LOGIN should be selected.
Step 3 of 8: After signing into your account, you’ll see the screen below. To view Form 26AS, go to ‘My Account’ and select ‘View Form 26AS’ from the drop-down menu.
Step 4 of 8: When you click ‘Confirm,’ you will be taken to the TRACES website.
Step 5 of 8: Click ‘Proceed’ after agreeing to the use and acceptance of Form 16 / Form 16A created by TRACES.
Step 6 of 8: To view your Form 26AS, go to ‘View Tax Credit (Form 26AS)’.
Step 7 of 8: Choose the Assessment Year and the Form 26AS format (HTML/Text). The form is also available in PDF format. After you’ve made your choice, click the ‘View/Download’ option.
Step 8 of 8: You will be asked to provide a password in order to open the document. The password is your DOB in DDMMYYY format. For example, if your birthday is April 15th, 1985, your password will be 15041985.
