How To Become A Pilot

How can you get a job as a pilot in India? You can begin your career to fulfil your desire of becoming a pilot after completing 12th grade, or you can do it after graduation. You can become a pilot for the military or for the civilian sector, and both have their own set of instructions and qualifications. After finishing your one year of Air Force school, you must commit to a set number of years to become a military pilot.

NOTE: Because each aircraft has its own set of rules and criteria, this differs from aircraft to aircraft.

Criteria for Eligibility

• To become a pilot, you must be at least 18 years old.
• English is a second language for me.
• Physics and Math should be your 12th-grade subjects, with a minimum score of 50% and above.
• It would be ideal if you were an international (or) had Indian citizenship from another country.
• A valid passport is required for cadet programmes, although passports are not required for flying schools in India.
• You can still apply through NIOS if you did not have science in your 11th or 12th grade (National Institute of Open Schooling). You must achieve the needed minimum score.
• Academic prerequisites are met, as are some additional requirements such as height, eyesight, and other medical examinations.

After completing your 12th/Graduation, how do you go about becoming a pilot in India?

• After completing your 12th grade or graduation, you are entitled to enrol in flight schools to pursue your dream of becoming a pilot.
• Once you’ve met the eligibility requirements listed above, you can complete out the application form and prepare for the DGCA entrance exam.
• There are two methods to enter the Flying School: the Cadet programme and the regular programme.

What exactly is the Cadet Program?

It serves as a tier between the airline and the academy, where pilots are trained according to the airline’s standards and requirements.

Process of Selection:

There are three steps to it: (Rounds of elimination)

Written test – physics, English, and math fundamentals

Test of aptitude

• Panelists from the airline industry were interviewed in a group setting.
• After completing the test, you will be subjected to medical and physical examinations by DGCA class 1 and 2 medical examiners in order to be considered for a pilot position.
• Fill out the application form and email it to dgcamedicalappointment@gmail.com for the class 1 medical exam.
• Fee: $3,000 (Varies)
• The charge for renewal will be – 2000. (Varies)
• Class 1 has a one-year validity period and needs be renewed every year. Renewal should be done every six months after 40 years.
• NABL Approved Laboratory does Class 2 medical tests, which include HB, TLC, Urine RE/ME, X-ray of the chest, Pure Tone Audiometry, and ECG.
• Eye and ENT examinations are also performed, and people with poor vision are allowed to use spectacles or lenses that are comfortable for them.
• Color blindness is an absolute no-no for pilots.

• Only two private institutions in India provide this service –

Minimum and maximum age requirements for cadet programmes at flying schools 

• Minimum age is 18 to 32 years old.
• Maximum Capacity for Private Flights The minimum age for obtaining a CPL is 18, and there is no upper age limit.

Dimensions and Weight In India, there are several requirements for becoming a pilot.

• To become a commercial pilot, you must: There are no hard prerequisites for Air Force pilots, however those with a score of less than 5.2 may face difficulties.
• BMI may compute weight as (Weight in Kgs)/(Weight in Kgs)/(Weight in Kgs)/(Weight in Kgs) (Height in meters)
• Blood pressure should not exceed 140/90 mm Hg.
• The cost of the course is higher than that of the Private Flying Courses pilot.
• 80 Lakhs – 1 Crore for Cadet (Including Type rating)
• 25-30 lakhs for private (Type Rating not included)

Cadet Course Duration: 18-24 Months

• 50-90 thousand dollars for a junior first officer
• 2 L for a first officer
