Part 1: Using Filmora to add text to video
Step1: Bring your video files in.
To get to the main screen of Filmora, click New Project when it has launched. Before getting started, it’s a good idea to tweak settings like aspect ratio and frame rates in the Project Settings box, as shown below.
The default aspect ratio is 16:9, but you can alter it to 1:1 (for Instagram videos), 4:3, or 9:16 depending on your needs (videos shot vertically).
To pick and add your video to the media library, click the “Import” button. You may also directly drag and drop the target video into the collection for added ease.
Step 2: Drag and drop videos onto the timeline, then look for the video frame.
To edit your video clips, drag & drop them from the media library to the timeline panel. You can clip, chop, or erase parts of the video before adding text to it, depending on your needs. Then zoom in on the timeline to see the video frame in greater detail and find the frames that need a text overlay.
Step 3: Select Text Presets and Fill in the Blanks
To access the Text & Title presets, go to the Titles tab. Filmora includes over 200 text effects that cover a wide range of styles, including lifestyle, media, seasonal, opener, bottom third, and end credits. In the Preview window, double-click the titles preset to see the outcome. Place the Playhead where you want the text and title in the timeline, then drag and drop it to the track above the video in the timeline if it meets your needs.
Step 4: Modify the Text’s Duration
The text overlay in Filmora has a default duration of 5 seconds, but you can extend it by dragging the edge of the text module in the timeline to meet the length of the film based on your demands. You may also modify the duration of the text effect by first selecting Text in the timeline and then clicking the Timer button.
Step 5: Edit and Customize Your Text
Double-click the Title frame in the timeline to bring up a popup with some basic title editing options. You can type the text for your text overlay here and alter the font, color, and size of the text.
You can choose from over 20 different text effect styles. Simply double-click a Style to apply it to the text overlay, and the changes will be seen in the Preview box.
You can also adjust the animation of your title text overlay by clicking the “Animation” icon, or by dragging and dropping the text box in the preview window.
Text Editing Expertise
Click the Advanced button to display the Advanced Text Edit window, where you may further edit the text overlay. You can also change the Text Fill, Border, and Shadow elements, as well as apply a preset and an animation.
More text boxes, as well as new text forms including circle, rectangle, round bubble, and arrow, can be added to the video. Aside from that, you can change the duration of each text element in the Text timeline by sliding the text’s edge.
Step 6: Save the updated video to your computer.
After you’ve finished adding your text overlay, click the “Play” icon to see how it looks. If you’re happy, click the “Export” button and select an export format from the drop-down menu. In the advanced options, you can alter video and audio properties including Bit Rate, Encoder, and Resolution.
You may also upload it directly to YouTube from Filmora, or burn it to DVD for viewing on your home player. To play on your mobile device, go to the “Devices” tab and select an iPhone, iPad, iPod, Zune, Samsung Galaxy, Xbox, or another device.
