The cost of cable and satellite television has climbed dramatically in recent years. The average monthly cable cost for a household is currently above $200!
If you’re on a limited budget but still want to watch your favorite TV shows, this may be out of reach.
Alternatively, if you’re busy and don’t always have time to watch much TV, you might conclude that the hefty cost of cable isn’t worth it! That is exactly what occurred to me a few years ago.
Instead of watching TV, I discovered other ways to pass the time. I couldn’t rationalize paying such a high fee for my cable subscription because I wasn’t watching much TV anymore. As a result, I terminated it and haven’t looked back!
Consider these options if you want to watch your favorite shows on TV without having to pay for cable.
What to Do If You Don’t Have Cable
Just by eliminating that one bill from my budget over four years ago, I’ve saved over $4,000.
What’s the best part? Even though I don’t have a cable subscription, I can still watch all of my favorite TV shows. Here are a few other options for watching TV without cable.
1. Hulu
My favorite way to watch TV without cable is on Hulu. You don’t need to make an appointment or purchase any particular equipment to watch programming because it can be streamed from your computer, tablet, or mobile device. There are also a variety of tiers to suit almost any budget.
2. Sling TV
Sling TV is another cable TV alternative that offers à la carte TV viewing for $35 per month with two plans to select from. It has a cloud-based DVR that allows you to watch live TV or record it for later viewing.

The cost of Amazon Prime is $12.99 per month if you aren’t already a member. An annual membership to Amazon Prime is a far better deal. It costs $119 upfront, but you save $37 compared to paying monthly.
If you don’t want to become a Prime member, you can opt to merely pay $8.99 per month for Amazon Prime Video.
4. Netflix
Signing up for Netflix is another method to watch TV without cable.
The cheapest option The most basic package costs $8.99 per month. You can watch on almost any device from anywhere, but you can only watch on one at a time unless you upgrade to a different plan.
5. Maximum Plus
The streaming service Paramount Plus (previously CBS All Access) costs $5.99 per month. You may watch your favorite shows with limited advertisements for that price. For $9.99 per month, you can get commercial-free streaming.
You may save even more money by signing up for their annual plan, which will save you 15%. Alternatively, if you’re a student, you can save 25% on Paramount+.
Any smart device, such as a laptop, tablet, or phone, can be used to watch Paramount+. Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Roku, and other streaming devices are all supported by Paramount Plus.
However, there are certain disadvantages to using Paramount+. Not every city or town has live-access television. Furthermore, certain shows are not available for viewing on a mobile device.
